What is a False Alarm?
FALSE ALARM means the activation of an Alarm System resulting in a response by the Summit County Sheriff's Office or applicable fire protection district to the Alarm Site when the responding public safety personnel finds no evidence of a fire, criminal offense or attempted criminal offense after having completed a timely investigation of the Alarm Site. An Alarm Dispatch Request, which is cancelled by the Alarm Business or the Alarm Site owner or occupant prior to the time the responding public safety personnel reaches the Alarm Site may be considered a False Alarm.
An Alarm user shall be subject to fines, depending on the number of false alarms within a rolling 365-day period, based upon the following schedule:
Fire - Residential/Commercial Fine Schedule:
1st false alarm - $0
2nd false alarm - $75
3rd false alarm - $150
4+ false alarms - $300
